If you manage to connect the required amount of dots for each color in the designated number of moves you get to move on to the next level. You can connect dots horizontally and vertically, but not diagonally – there are no limits to the number of dots of the same color you can connect in a row, in fact the more the better. Once you’ve selected your level, you’ll be provided a set of goals for the number of dots you have to connect of each of the game's colors: red, blue, yellow, and green. There are more than 350 levels, but you can only play ones that you’ve previously completed. To get started you simply tap on play and you’ll be taken to the level map where you can choose the level you want to play. This doesn’t have a lot to do with the actual game play but it’s a fun way to begin.

When you open the app you’ll be greeted by two cute little cartoon heads set in a snowy forest, with quirky music playing in the background. This app will require 99 MB of available space on your iOS device. The game also includes Game Center integration allowing you to view and share scores with people all around the globe, and it has a comprehensive set of instructions. There are in-app purchases but these are simply to provide you with tools to gain certain advantages, they aren’t required at all. There are no ads to contend with in Two Dots, which is surprising in this type of game but certainly refreshing. This game is highly entertaining from the word go. To be a success the strategy has to be clear, the levels have to be difficult but not impossible, and most of all they have to be fun. They don’t rely on special effects and in depth character analysis for their success – they simply provide the user with a little distraction from the drudgery of everyday life. Puzzle and strategy games are so popular because of their simplistic nature.
